Yendi Youth Connect has officially launched its latest youth engagement initiative, GenZ Connect, a forward-looking project aimed at nurturing leadership, boosting confidence, and building stronger social networks among young people in the Yendi Municipality. The launch event brought together diverse youth from across the municipality for a day of interactive learning, purposeful dialogue, and community-building.
The GenZ Connect project is designed as a safe and inclusive platform where young people—particularly those between the ages of 15 and 24—can regularly meet, exchange ideas, explore opportunities, and co-create solutions to shared challenges. The initiative responds to the growing need for structured youth-led spaces in Yendi that allow for reflection, support, and growth amidst rising social pressures, unemployment, and identity struggles among young people.
During the first session, participants engaged in a series of discussions and experiential activities focused on the theme of personal growth and connection. The session encouraged openness, creativity, and peer-to-peer learning, which helped participants develop new perspectives, form friendships, and articulate both their hopes and anxieties for the future.
The GenZ Connect platform will run through monthly sessions and digital storytelling, creating sustained engagement for participating youth. Key thematic areas to be covered over the coming months include leadership development, mental well-being, digital skills, values education, gender equity, entrepreneurship, and community service.
According to the Executive Director of Yendi Youth Connect, Abdul-Latif Umar Mohammed, “This initiative comes at a critical time when many young people in our communities feel isolated, unheard, or uninspired. GenZ Connect is our way of telling them they are not alone—we see them, we believe in their potential, and we are committed to walking with them as they chart their paths.”
By fostering open dialogue and practical skill-building, GenZ Connect aims not only to support individual development but also to create a ripple effect of positivity and collective action among the youth of Yendi. The project further aligns with YYC’s broader mission of inclusive empowerment, civic participation, and transformative youth leadership.
As the project rolls out across different communities in the municipality, Yendi Youth Connect invites all stakeholders—local leaders, schools, parents, and development partners—to support and amplify this effort. The future of Yendi lies in the hearts, minds, and dreams of its youth, and through GenZ Connect, YYC is investing in a generation ready to lead, thrive, and inspire.
