The Green Yendi Project mobilizes youth, chiefs, and communities to restore Yendi’s degraded lands through tree planting, public education, and sustainable land use. We are building climate resilience one tree at a time.
A Greener Yendi Starts With Local Hands
Green Yendi is Yendi Youth Connect’s flagship environmental initiative launched in response to growing deforestation, rising temperatures, and degraded water bodies in Northern Ghana. The project empowers young people and traditional leaders to take collective action in replanting trees, restoring watersheds, and promoting eco-conscious behavior in homes, schools, and public spaces.
Through school clubs, community clean-ups, public forums, and partnerships with the Forestry Commission and Eco Restore Ghana, Green Yendi is transforming awareness into action and dry lands into green spaces.

What We Aim to Achieve
Years of deforestation, charcoal burning, and unregulated farming have left Yendi’s landscape dry and fragile. Water bodies are shrinking, and heatwaves are intensifying. Without intervention, the region’s natural resilience will continue to erode—endangering livelihoods, agriculture, and biodiversity.
The Green Yendi Project was born from youth-led advocacy and community calls for a coordinated response. It brings together ancestral respect for the land with modern restoration strategies to heal Yendi’s ecology and secure its future.
Restore Degraded Landscapes
Replant native trees and protect water bodies through community-led restoration efforts in schools, markets, and public lands.
Build Climate Awareness
Conduct education campaigns, radio discussions, and climate school clubs to raise awareness of environmental issues and solutions.
Promote Green Livelihoods
Train youth and women in eco-friendly enterprises like seedling production, composting, and sustainable agriculture.

Tree Cover Recovery in Key Zones
Restore tree cover in schools, markets, dams, and roadsides by planting indigenous species and protecting 10 hectares of degraded community lands.
Youth as Climate Champions
Mobilize over 500 students and volunteers through clubs, campaigns, and restoration activities that raise environmental awareness and civic responsibility.
Eco-Enterprises for Youth & Women
Train youth and women in eco-friendly businesses like composting, nursery work, clean energy, and climate-smart farming for green jobs and income.
