Youth Health & Safety Campaign
Drugs Steal Dreams – Say No to Substance Abuse
Through school outreach and neighborhood forums, the Drugs Steal Dreams Campaign inspires youth across Yendi to say no to drugs and yes to their future. With awareness talks, film screenings, and referrals to Yendi Hospital’s psychiatric unit, this campaign supports prevention, recovery, and dignity.
Drugs Steal Dreams – Saving Futures, One Youth at a Time
Substance abuse is quietly destroying the lives and futures of young people across Northern Ghana. The Drugs Steal Dreams Campaign by Yendi Youth Connect is a proactive response—educating students in JHS and SHS schools about the real dangers of drug and alcohol use, and directing those already struggling to access care and counseling.
Beyond schools, the campaign reaches out-of-school youth through community-based evening forums. In local neighborhoods, we screen powerful documentaries on drug abuse, engage participants in open discussions, and work closely with health professionals to offer referrals and recovery pathways. Our goal is clear: no youth should be lost to addiction.

Why We Launched the Drugs Steal Dreams Campaign
Yendi’s youth face growing exposure to tramadol, weed, glue, and alcohol, often as a way of coping with hardship, peer pressure, or lack of opportunity. Unfortunately, few talk about it—and fewer seek help. This silence leads to wasted potential, broken families, and cycles of addiction. YYC launched the Drugs Steal Dreams Campaign to fill that gap, break the stigma, and offer both prevention and pathways to support.
Raise Awareness and Prevent Drug Use
Educate school and community youth about the dangers of drug abuse using relatable content, real-life stories, and visual media.
Support Youth Already at Risk
Identify and refer young people struggling with addiction to trained professionals at Yendi Hospital’s psychiatric unit for counseling and recovery.
Break the Silence on Drug Abuse
Create safe spaces where drug use is openly discussed without shame, enabling families and friends to intervene early and positively.
What We Expect to See
Each forum, referral, and school visit brings us closer to saving lives and protecting the future of youth in Yendi.

Reduced Drug Use Among Youth
Youth become more informed and cautious about substance abuse, resulting in a decline in first-time users and peer pressure acceptance.
Improved Access to Counseling Services
Dozens of addicted youth are linked to health services for early intervention, treatment, and long-term support.
Community Conversations on Addiction
Drug abuse is no longer taboo—families, schools, and local leaders begin addressing it collectively and supportively.
